Avyukta Ayurveda
Ayurveda, yoga and Vedic tradition in the foothills of the Himalayas
Ayurveda in the spiritual setting of Rishikesh
Avyukta Ayurveda is a small Ayurvedic centre situated in a peaceful part of Rishikesh, in the foothills of the Himalayas. It combines traditional Ayurvedic care with yoga, pranayama, meditation and a broader introduction to the Vedic way of life. It is particularly suitable if you prefer personal attention and an intimate atmosphere to the environment of a large hotel resort.
A personalised approach
Every stay begins with a consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor. Based on your constitution, current state of health and the purpose of the stay, an individual plan of treatments, diet and daily routine is prepared. The programme is regularly monitored and may be adjusted according to your current needs.
Ayurvedic treatments
The centre offers classical Ayurvedic therapies, combined according to the doctor's recommendations rather than selected from a fixed catalogue. These include:
- Abhyanga – full-body oil massage
- Shirodhara – oil therapy promoting deep relaxation
- Swedana – herbal steam therapy
- Nasya – treatment focused on the head and nasal passages
- Udvartana – herbal powder massage
- Basti and local oil therapies for the back, neck and joints
Panchakarma
An important part of the centre's programme is Panchakarma, the traditional Ayurvedic cleansing process consisting of preparatory, main cleansing and post-treatment phases. Its exact form is determined individually by the doctor. A stay of two to three weeks is generally recommended for a more comprehensive Panchakarma programme. Shorter restorative and relaxation stays are also available.
Yoga, meditation and Vedic tradition
The daily programme also includes yoga practice, breathing exercises and meditation. Depending on your interests, it may be complemented by lectures, an introduction to Jyotish (Vedic astrology) or participation in traditional Vedic ceremonies. This integration of Ayurveda with yoga, meditation and the wider Vedic tradition is one of Avyukta's most distinctive features.
Accommodation and food
The accommodation is simple, clean and designed for a peaceful Ayurvedic stay. Avyukta is not a luxury resort; its main emphasis is on personal care, a welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity to focus on your individual programme. Light vegetarian meals are prepared according to Ayurvedic principles and adapted to the character of your ongoing treatment.
Rishikesh and its surroundings
The location on the banks of the Ganges gives the stay a unique cultural and spiritual dimension. For generations, Rishikesh has been associated with yoga, meditation, ashrams and India's pilgrimage traditions. Depending on your programme and physical condition, the stay may be complemented by walks along the Ganges, visits to temples or exploration of the Himalayan foothills.
